SKYVIEWS SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS PROGRAMME LAUNCHED ON JULY 11, 2014

SKYVIEWS SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS PROGRAMME LAUNCHED ON JULY 11, 2014 AT THE 3rd   SYMPOSIUM FOR INNOVATORS IN COASTAL TOURISM  IN GRENADA

SKYVIEWS SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS

Jessica Bensley, CEO of Skyviews Inc. successfully launched the Skyviews Sustainability Awards programme on July 11, 2014 at the 3rd Symposium for Innovators on Coastal Tourism where stakeholders were able to see how their businesses can derive direct benefits from participating in the Awards programme and how the Caribbean and its tourism product will benefit from adopting more sustainable practices.

The Skyviews Sustainability Awards programme will help guide businesses through a process to engage better practices that will not only have global impact in terms of who we attract to the Caribbean but also on our communities.

The Skyviews Sustainability Awards will achieve the following:

Phase 1: Show businesses that have not engaged in sustainability practices, ways they can adopt best practice measures and do so through a very cost effective process.

Phase 2: Gather quantitative and qualitative data that can be used to implement solutions and create synergies between NGOs, Governments, donor agencies and the private sectors.

THE BIG PICTURE

We in the Caribbean must play our part; we MUST act now!

Be awarded for your sustainability initiatives. Make more money and save some through the Skyviews Sustainability Awards Programme in collaboration with BlueGreen Matters and CREST.

The Awards Programme is open to ALL SKYVIEWS CLIENTS. It is free and it is voluntary. All it will take is some time, maybe 20 minutes (yes you can do it in several sittings) and you will gain a range of ideas on how you can improve your business performance, lower costs and attract more business.

A recent Trip Advisor survey showed the percentage of travelers willing to pay a premium for green certified products or services has doubled since 2010. What’s more, most businesses that adopt sustainability procedures see savings in costs of up to 25% a year.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There are a series of indicators in 5 key areas: Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity and Social Governance that measure the impact of your business on the environment. If the impact is minimal, your business will be awarded in that area. Don’t worry if you are new to the whole concept of sustainability, our programme also caters to you. If you wish to make a commitment or a pledge for action in the upcoming year, you are awarded for your intention to modify or change your business practices.

So we urge you! Go on, what do you stand to lose?

Complete the Sustainability Awards Survey and we will share your results with you so you can start or continue the process to make your business more sustainable. If you want to publish your awards on our map we are happy to do that for you or if you prefer we can hold off; the decision is yours. Please remember though, we are awarding businesses that show a commitment or intention, so even if your water savings may not look good this year, if you make a commitment to improve on the figure for next year you will be recognized and that intention will be shown on the map, bringing you extra business from discerning travelers looking to align their spending power with their values.
