The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has called for building linkages between agriculture and tourism as “the obvious solution to addressing our high food import bill and our food and nutrition security.” The cost of food imports to the Caribbean has roughly doubled over the last decade, and hotels and restaurants account for 40%-45% of consumer-related agricultural imports.
